Katie Anderson

Katie is in her sixth year of teaching third grade, and just finished her Masters in Instructional Technology.

P.S. 124
New York, NY
Principal: Alice Hom

Modifications

After browsing the entire site designed for the units, I had to simplify some of the tasks for my students. Also, I had to spend some extra time on some of the lessons than expected.

Instructional Objectives

Students Will:

  • Define a tangram and the history behind the puzzle
  • Understand spatial relationships by using the tangrams
  • Identify the elements of a folktale by creating their own using the tangrams

Technology Integration

The influence of technology through this unit gave the students more excitement and enhanced their learning by providing online experiences.

Assessment

The students were assessed by a rubric which we created together so that the students knew what was expected of them.

Tips for Teachers

Definitely to explore units thoroughly before using them with their students to make sure links work and that the unit meets your needs!
