Linda Mandracchia has been teaching in NYC for the past 20 years. She is currently in her 2nd year as a Mentor to new teachers. She was an elementary classroom teacher in grades K-6 for 15 years and worked as a literacy coach with teachers to implement a balanced literacy approach to reading and writing. She also teaches a writing class to teachers who want to improve the quality of their own writing as well as their students.

Linda writes:
“I have two children who have always been in the NYC public school system.
My son is in middle school and my daughter is in high school and has special needs. She was in an inclusion program from elementary through junior high school. She is currently mainstreamed at her high school. Being a parent of a child with special needs has taught me a lot about students with special needs and building relationships between school and home.
