| My
thanks Ellen for sending me the comments on my paper. I think there
is no greater compliment for an academic then to be taken seriously,
to trigger thought and discussion. So I really am proud that this
has occurred. The many thoughtful responses to my piece are being
digested now. All of us need to find ways of addressing a system
that is not now working for some of our children. There probably
isn't one single way to do that, but a little more generosity of
heart by those with wealth would go a long way to solving these
problems. The most civil societies I know simply invest more in
their children though many mechanisms, including paying their parents
livable wages and providing health care for all their citizens.
My
thanks again for allowing me access to the comments.
